This morning Glyndŵr University’s Technology Enhanced Learning Leaders group had a meeting to discuss our move to Moodle 2.2, chaired by Dr. Clive Buckley, our e-learning developer.
We heard from Dr. Stephen Bostock, head of the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Assessment, who explained the rationale for moving from Moodle 1.9 to 2.2. He also explained how, from 2012-13, Moodle will be integrated with central records (SITS) so that programme and module spaces are created, and students enrolled, automatically.
Next, we heard from David Mosford, Web Services manager, who updated us on the progress of the project and outlined the schedule. Finally, there was a demonstration of some of the new improvements and features of Moodle 2, given by Alicia Owen, learning technologist. In general, group members were enthusiastic about some of the new features and keen to be able to try them out for themselves when we have the new version of Moodle ready to go later in the month.
